Waste oil collection in St Maarten
Used oil ready to leave the vessel? SM Caribbean collects waste oil alongside in St Maarten, at the quay or at anchor, with a written quote before the job.

Waste oil, declared separately
Oil changes and machinery maintenance leave used oil to store and remove. Tell us which waste oil you have, where it is held and how much needs collecting. Include any known water content or contamination when you request.
Waste oil, sludge and oily bilge water are different streams. If you need more than one removed, give a separate description and estimated volume for each. Do not combine them just to prepare for collection.
What we need for the quote
- Vessel name and a crew contact who can coordinate the transfer.
- The oil type, storage arrangement and estimated volume in litres or m³.
- Your berth, marina or anchorage in St Maarten.
- The requested collection date and your planned departure.
- The discharge connection, access to it and any transfer restrictions.
If the connection is unfamiliar, include a description or discuss it with the office before the job. The collection arrangement and timing are confirmed after review; sending a request does not book the service.
Prepare the oil for collection
Identify the oil tank or containers for the crew, confirm the quantity to be removed and keep other waste streams separate. Make the discharge point accessible and tell the office about any unusual contents or limits on using the vessel’s transfer system.
Before transfer, the crews agree the connection, communication and stopping arrangements. Keep a responsible crew member available throughout the collection and follow the agreed transfer plan.
From quote to signed receipt
- Send the oil details, position and requested date through the waste-service form.
- Review the written quote and confirm the collection arrangements with SM Caribbean.
- Prepare the agreed discharge point for collection alongside at the quay or at anchor.
- Check the waste type and quantity on the signed waste delivery receipt and keep it with your vessel records.
For oily-waste record keeping, use the vessel’s applicable procedures and the crew guide below. A collection receipt supports your records; it does not replace the crew’s responsibility for making the correct entry.
Before the collection
- Prepare the connection — details to share and the crew’s preparation checklist.
- Oil Record Book guide — recording oily waste delivered to a reception facility.
- Notices and receipts — the information to check before filing the receipt.
Other waste on board?
Declare each waste stream and its volume separately so the office can quote the full collection.

Arrange your collection.
