Use it for
- Most heavy-duty diesels on and off highway, including Euro 2–5 and US 2002 engines
- Engines on distillate fuel up to 1.0 % sulphur (Shell Marine lists it as a high-speed diesel engine oil)
- Engines with a diesel particulate filter: Shell recommends Rimula R4 L instead.

- Neutralises combustion acids to limit bearing corrosion.
- Anti-wear films and soot dispersancy protect the valve train, rings and liners.
- Resists oil thickening, sludge and piston deposits.
